Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementing NYS World Language and ACTFL standards
  • Collaborating with colleagues on curricula and lesson plans
  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual learners
  • Providing conversational opportunities where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught
  • Teaching writing and composition
  • Scheduling and preparing students for oral and written examinations
  • Monitoring students’ progress by writing reports and grading assessments
  • Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable
  • Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students
  • Teaching students about culture, which may include festivals, traditional food and dress, and social conventions
  • Organizing events where students can showcase their language skills

 

Job Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:         

  • Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in American Sign Language (ASL)
