Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic III
HVAC/Refrigeration
Hours: 6:00am to 2:30pm (Hours subject to change to accommodate maintenance projects).
Preferred: HVAC/Refrigeration Experience
Duties:
- Proficient in HVAC and Refrigeration systems.
- Responsible for routine installation, servicing and maintenance of all systems inclusive of boilers, climate-controlled unit ventilators, heating and ventilation, motors, pumps. Is able to inspect and adjust temperature control devices.
- Responsible for service and repair of refrigeration units including, but not limited to, air conditioners, RTU’s (Roof Top Units), split-systems (capable of heating and cooling) condensers and compressors.
- Must be able to work independently and compete projects to completion.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, understand building specifications and building floor plans. Must have the ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Must have effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the building staff, maintenance staff, colleagues and district employees.
- Works under the direction of the Facilities Director and/or the Maintenance Supervisor.
Necessary Requirement:
Depending on the nature of the assignment, at the time of appointment and during employment in this title, the candidate may be required to possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle to be operated.

- Job Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either:
(a) Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas, and two (2) years of experience in the craft or specialty to which the incumbent will be assigned; or,
(b) Four (4) years of experience in the craft or specialty to which the incumbent will be assigned; or,
(c) An equivalent combination of the above education, or training, and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b); or,
(d) One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic II.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Depending on the nature of the assignment, at the time of appointment and during employment in this title, candidates may be required to possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the vehicle to be operated.
