  • Support/training for teachers, related service providers, support staff in data collection and implementation of behavior management strategies
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and create Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Setting up ABA programs to include discreet trials, verbal behavior programming and ABA techniques
  • Crisis response and staff training
  • Parent training
  • Conducting/facilitating team meetings
  • Participation at CSE meetings to report on data collection, progress toward goals

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum guidelines and accommodate students' language proficiency levels.
  • Teach academic subjects, such as math and science, in a second language.
  • Assess students' academic and language development progress through formal and informal evaluations.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with the District Department Chair of ENL and Bilingual Programs K-5, teachers, and building administrators to enhance instructional practices and support student success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with teaching methods, language acquisition research, and educational technology.
  • Incorporate cultural materials and perspectives into the curriculum to enhance students' learning experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other required documentation.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementing NYS standards
  • Collaborating with colleagues on curricula and lesson plans
  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual learners
  • Providing conversational opportunities where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught
  • Teaching writing and composition
  • Preparing students for the NYSESLAT
  • Monitoring students’ progress by writing reports and grading assessments
  • Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents
  • Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students
  • Teaching students about culture and diverse backgrounds
