Hours:  8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Salary:  $49,738/$51,233 with BS Degree

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  

• Must be CPR/AED Certified 

• Provides basic health care and first aid to students that are ill, medically fragile and/or injured 

• Provides treatment, documents injuries and maintains medical records 

• Provides ongoing communication with parents regarding injuries, medications, immunizations, allergies, etc. 

• Administers daily medications 

• Maintain up-to-date student records on all students (i.e., physicals and immunizations) 

• Follows NYS guidelines for immunization compliance 

• Follows NYS Guidelines for vision, hearing, scoliosis screenings and physicals 

• Gathers data and reports findings on NYS immunization and BMI surveys 

• Responds to all medical emergencies within the building 

• Participates in 504 meetings 

• Must have basic computer skills to document records and maintain communication logs 

• May attend field trips when medically required 

• Prior pediatric and/or school experience preferred 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Current CPR Certification and Current First Aid Certification 
• Provides first aid and care to injured and ill students under the direction of a school nurse 

• Communication with parents/guardians on a daily basis 
• Exhibits patience and empathy when communicating with students, parents/guardians and staff 
• Reports observations to principal, school nurse, guidance counselors and social workers, as needed 
• Maintains stock of health office supplies 
• Works with the school nurse to ensure the health office is clean and neat at all times 

• Helps school nurse with grade level screenings and physicals 
• Takes and records appropriate vital signs and alerts the nurse to abnormal findings
